DayStar Ranch is the life long dream of Kathy Rutan-Sprague as a place to heal the hearts and minds of people using horses.  Kathy grew up with horses and has been breeding and raising healthy well adjusted horses for many years with this in mind.

DayStar Ranch was incorporated in California as a non-profit organization in 2001 and began by offering therapeutic horsemanship lessons to local youth and women.  DayStar Ranch joined Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association ( Horses for Licensed Therapists ) in that first year and is currently a voting member of the Tehama County Health Partnerships ( http://www.tchp.org ).

DayStar Ranch believes that healing our families and communities will come about through respectful collaborations with these and other such organizations.

To maximize our use of resources, DayStar Ranch does not own its own ranch, but contracts to utilize the ranches of its board members or dedicated volunteers to provide our services to the community.  In the past this has allowed us to serve clients in both Shasta and Tehama counties.  All of our staff are unpaid volunteers who we train to assist us.
