Mental Health Professionals around
the world have discovered this powerful tool and are using it to benefit their clients in all areas of treatment: marriage and family counseling, behavior disorders, PTSD, Bipolar and Unipolar Depression, Autism, Grief,
Borderline Personality, Eating Disorders and even Schizophrenia. The model uses
horses, an Equine Specialist and a licensed therapist to treat clients individually or in groups.
Equine Assisted Growth and Learning
Association - EAGALA ( http://www.eagala.org ) was founded as a non-profit eight years ago in Utah to promote the use of this model and to set professional
standards for applying Equine Assisted Psychotherapy - EAP ( http://www.eagala.org/whatiseapContent.htm ).
EAGALA offers guidance and training to its members and define professional standard to this cutting edge therapy. Great progress has been made and continues to be made as EAP gains ever increasing
credibility among professional therapists, insurance providers and governmental agencies.
DayStar Ranch has sponsored EAGALA
trainings and enthusiastically supports this organization. At one time, our entire
board of directors was EAGALA certified at Level One. Currently, two board members
are EAGALA certified as Equine Specialists and are inspired by the positive effects experienced and the expanding body of
research being done to prove the efficacy of EAP.
EAGALA’s mottos “Partnering
for a Better World” and “Horses Helping People” are not just idealism, but reality in an organization that
works tirelessly to make this world a better place for all of us. As EAGALA members
DayStar Ranch enjoys the excellent trainings they provide for both therapist and Equine Specialists, the beautiful quarterly
newsletter, and the annual conference that brings the brightest and the best together for everything the professional team
needs to succeed in their own enterprises. EAGALA and DayStar Ranch are truly
partnering for a better world, as EAGALA helps to connect and train teams around the globe.
DayStar Ranch is available to
any qualified mental health professional. We can provide the facility, horses
and Equine Specialist for EAP sessions.
